When Jehovah speaks to his captive people, he confronts them with a threefold declaration of their paradoxical nature: the depth of their human depravity and the height of their divine inheritance. But amidst this terrifying revelation, the Kinsman-Redeemer soothes the fears of his people with a seven-fold “fear not;” refreshing their withered souls with rivers of living water
- You are impotent and beleaguered, but you are my chosen instrument, and I empower you (Isaiah 41:8-20).
- Fear not, I chose you as my servant and I will be with you (8-10)
- Fear not, I am more powerful than all your foes (11-13)
- Fear not, I use the weak things of this world to confound the mighty (14-20)
- You are broken and enslaved, but you are my special creation, and I love you (Isaiah 43:1-7).
- Fear not, you are mine and I traverse your hardships with you (1-3a)
- Fear not, you are precious to me, and I will restore you to freedom (3b-7)
- You are lifeless and ineffective, but you are my covenant people, and I pour out my blessing upon you (Isaiah 44:1-8)
- Fear not, you are bound to me, and my blessing will flow in and through you (1-5)
- Fear not, you are bound to the only God who can bless. (6-8)
