God’s Transcendent Will

Human conceptions of the universe are limited by their need to reduce everything into a localized and egocentric system; and when they try to understand God’s ways through this paradigm, they end up with constructs of “God’s will” that are little better than mysticism or rationalism. But God is not bound by their limited perceptions: his ways are as non-localized and infinite at himself. From him and through him and to him are all things, and when taken as a whole, these golden threads connecting the Most High to all things creates an Eternal Way: a pattern of divine purpose that threads it’s way through the cosmos, starting and ending at the Glory of God. God’s will for his people is not navigated by reaching localized destinations: places, times, events, roles, statuses, titles, achievements, milestones, or accomplishments. God’s will for his people is to walk in the eternal way, trusting God to keep our hearts and minds from wondering into the way of pain. It is to be driven by his transcendent purpose down the eternal paths and the good way with single-minded devotion. It is to perceive the golden web of God’s design all around us until our soul vibrates to the same music and sings “All the paths of the Lord are steadfast love and faithfulness.”

(Psalm 25:10; 139:34-24; Jeremiah 6:16; Romans 11:36)
